Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn

The Full Moon in Capricorn on July 5, 2020 (at 00:44EST) is a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse.

Now’s a great time to revisit this FREE WEBINAR: An astrological overview of the June-July 2020 Eclipse Season by Christina Caudill, Katie Sweetman & Virginia Rosenberg.

Eclipses are initiations. Rites of passage. Portals of acceleration.

This is the third of three eclipses this summer.

It will be visible in North and South America, Africa, and Western Europe (with maximum eclipse at 12:29am Eastern Standard Time on July 5th).

This Eclipse dredges up echoes of what we’ve been contending with since Saturn entered Capricorn in December 2017.

What tasks or struggles began mounting then?
What have you been working to architect since that time? What collapsed?
What pressures have been building in your life, and in the world?
What have you shed? What wisdom has been harvested?

The transit of Saturn through Capricorn was named “Reckoning and Reformation.”

To reckon is to confront. To deal with. To bring to account.

To reform is to reshape. To come correct from harms and abuses. To remove corruption and recreate systems.

December 2017-January 2020, we each had a summit to climb. This work may have aligned us with our deeper purpose and brought us closer to our integrity. It may have exposed places where our actions were over-determined by external expectations and definitions of success. We may have come into confrontation with fears, obstacles, and restrictions.

Today’s Eclipse marks the final act in the eclipse dramas we endured since July 2018.

For your reference and reflection on impactful life-changes (crescendos in The Work), here are the dates for previous Eclipses in Capricorn:

  • January 5/6, 2019 (Solar Eclipse in Capricorn)

  • July 16/17, 2019 (Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn)

  • January 10/11, 2020 (Lunar Eclipse in Cancer)

This work may have exhausted and depleted us. Drawn skin taut over bones. Ground us down with lack and deprivation. This work had us ask, “what can I actually sustain?” “Is this what I’m here for?” “How can I move past this?”

When we dig deeper, we recognize we aren’t mechanical beings. That impacts of oppression have seeped into our cells.

Our bodies are beyond wise and beyond tired. Reaching an ancient limit to lending their energy to uphold a global poverty scheme war machine.

We have to respect our bodies and our ancestors. We have to respect boundaries. Real limits. We have to draw lines that respect what has been done and prevents further perpetration.

The more anyone tries to forget, the more the memories persist as ghosts. We choose to Remember.

Supremacy, the strategy of power-over oppression, control, and exploitation, has been enacted as the world society’s center of gravity. There are people, communities, cultures, histories, and lifeways that are relentlessly victimized, stolen from, and decimated to extermination to make this the sole operating system.

Power-chasers-and-hoarders subjecting the colonized to a senseless non-culture of ceaseless craving.

A deathless, cannibalistic necrophiliac hunger.

Materialist obsession, gorging on an all-consuming, replete sense of lack.

Governments, corporations, industries, economies, banks and parasitic authoritarian institutions of all kinds continually murder, brutalize, gaslight, displace, and enslave citizens - all to strip people of their nature, pervert it, and sell it back to them for blood-soaked profits to rise a few to the top of a pedestaled tower comprised of un-honored death. They borrow the life and death of others to cling to the avoidance of their own.

We are laden with the baggage of these complicated, sadistic fabrications.

What’s needed now isn’t more. It’s less.

The wisdom of innate simplicity. Elder wisdom of what preceded this and how that ancient cosmic-mammalian blueprint still lives within us. Ancestral acumen of survival, orientation towards pleasure, and resilience.

“The End of A World”

This is a leveling. A great clearing. A dignified diminishment.

Structures seeded in 1518 (last time Saturn and Pluto met in Capricorn) are expiring.

Why can we imagine the ending of the world, yet not the ending of colonialism?
— Admin at indigenousaction.org

“It is a pathogenic global social order of imagined futures, built upon genocide, enslavement, ecocide, and total ruination. What conclusions are to be realized in a world constructed of bones and empty metaphors? A world of fetishized endings calculated amidst the collective fiction of virulent specters. From religious tomes to fictionalized scientific entertainment, each imagined timeline constructed so predictably; beginning, middle, and ultimately, The End.” Read the whole article, Rethinking the Apocalypse: An Indigenous Anti-Futurist Manifesto here

Something real was here before all this. Something will remain when it’s all gone.

We are world-shapers. Death-midwives to the current shape of things. Accomplices to global transformation. Embodied soil.

“Many worlds have gone before this one. Our traditional histories are tightly woven with the fabric of the birthing and ending of worlds. Through these cataclysms we have gained many lessons that have shaped who we are and how we are to be with one another. Our ways of being are informed through finding harmony through and from the destruction of worlds. The Elliptic. Birth. Death. Rebirth.” Read the whole article, Rethinking the Apocalypse: An Indigenous Anti-Futurist Manifesto here

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 13 degrees Capricorn is “An ancient bas-relief carved in granite remains a witness to a long forgotten culture.”

Theme of this Moon: To direct our will to unearth what has permanent value within culture, and let go of all else as nonessential.

Question the beliefs and moral foundations politicized systems of socio-economic organization have ordered themselves upon. Internalizing these beliefs makes us pawns to perpetuate the game of exploitation.

Dig deeper. There are permanent truths to be named and witnessed.

  • What is underneath my conditioning? What are permanent truths I know or trust in? What are the honest patterns?

  • What exists beyond greed? What exists beyond selfishness and the myth of rugged individualism? What exists beyond separateness?

  • What exists in a world without an Enemy Other?

  • What am I attempting to control? What might happen if I stop trying to control something or someone outside of me?

  • What is the spiritual harvest of the culture that I belong to?

  • What gives me life? What gave my ancestors life? How can I prioritize that?

Moon of Self-and-World Responsibility

This Moon highlights wounds of identity historically inflicted by the state and its footsoldiers. It stimulates a process of reclaiming our energy, our will-power, our directive, our passion, our anger, our desire.

Energies and events are initiated that we will be working with for the next 6 months.

How are we going to channel our rage? How are we going to move deliberately to effect deliberate reclamation of our bodies and beings?

What will we stop doing? What will we start doing? What boundaries will we enact to maintain our integrity and stay engaged in the reckonings of account?

Stay resourced. Find your lane of effective impact. Conserve your energy - do only what is important, essential, and needed - nothing more, nothing less.

Stakes will be high and oppressive forces will continue to consolidate power throughout the fall. Attend your priorities. See to it that who and what you care about survives.

We are facing unfinished business. Closing out an old story. Settling the deepest of debts, and eventually moving beyond them into an astral, collectivized framework.

Stay with it. Moment by moment. Centimeter by centimeter.

Time, space, and death/birth are not linear. They are everywhere, everything, at once.

With every contraction, an equal and opposite expansion.

Tremendous pressure. Pulsing. Moving.

And then...another side. In another world. Another dimension. Multiple sibling worlds. Many somethings beyond this passage we are born for.

boundaries moon. geodesic dome moon. moon for overcoming fear. innerstanding moon. self-respect moon. moon of dignified diminishment. settling debts moon. confronting old curses moon. moon of ruin and rubble. moon of consequential alignment. elder moon. moon of unfinished businesses. condensing moon. last stand moon. moon for non-chronological time. self-healing moon. ancestral acumen moon. moon of authors and architects. moon of permanent truths. turtle moon. bone dust moon. moon of world multiplication.

Aries: I reclaim myself.

Self-rejection has no place here. I am an initiator. An opener. A founder. A fountain. My nature is movement. I am the spark. The fire for beginnings. The wheel of time turns, and I carve out my place. I overcome my resistance to being in this world so I can set things into motion for its recreation. The energy burning in me is the irrepressible strength of healing. Of moving past into present into purpose. I bring my legacy and the weight of the world with me - placing it all at the altar of mending.

Taurus: I track truth.

Beliefs are not enough. We’re in a climate of logical fallacies. This war feels spiritual. I find myself strung on a tether between mutually exclusive thoughts. Wading through cognitive dissonance and seeking synthesis. Wondering about the nature of reality and how perception strings theories together. What information is reliable? What if there is truth in all perspectives? I hone my extrasensory perceptions. I ask for guidance. I listen. I speak. I strengthen my defenses through faith.

Gemini: I look to the hidden.

It is time to be honest about power. For the last two years, I have been struggling with intimacy. Craving a deep connection I can sense is there, but feels beyond my reach. Cut off from my own erotic energy. There are things I’ve been turning away from. Traumas and blindspots that have remained inaccessible. My bonds can only be as authentic as I am honest. Challenging words and conversations provoke my commitment to unearth my own shadow. For the next six months, I commit to facing uncomfortable truths and unearthing and sharing honest healing.

Cancer: I call for accountability as loving care.

Since July 2018, I have been reconstructing my relationships. Clearing old patterns that keep me repressed or obligated or over-responsible to the feelings of those in my life. This Eclipse brings another stress-test on bonds, friendships, and partnerships. I won’t capitulate. I am committed to caring for myself, and creating boundaries that ensure I am respected. Holding others accountable is a form of love. I stand steady in this firm love, and I trust it. My gut feelings are an accurate guide.

Leo: I slow down.

On this Full Moon, I step off the ride. Time extends itself into something shapeless and infinite when I come present. Microcosms bloom into macrocosms. Prayers become acts and are reflected back at me in resonant space. One truth is, I’ve been draining my own energy. Submitting to ways the world has programmed me to grind. To play victim to over-complications and pressures. I stop running. I commit to clearing distractions and noise from my body, mind, work, and daily livings. I deserve healing. I allow presence.

Virgo: I can, and will, create.

Pleasure is not prideful. It is absolutely essential. Joy is not extraneous. It is non-negotiable, and I guard it as such. I promise to stay close to, and generate, joyful pleasure. I have a radical responsibility to be creative. I accept the task to remove obstacles that keep me from the warmth of my own heart. I understand that I am always creating - whether I’m aware of what I’m making more of or not is the difference. This Eclipse invites me to settle into the type of creative power that can overcome disconnection and separation. I know I have what I need within.

Libra: My place, my work, is innate.

My place in this world is right where I’m at. Internally and externally. I embrace this. I sit where I’m put. I listen. I open. I work with it. What others think of me or how I show up does not concern me. I make use of whatever’s gxd-given in this time. My work in the world is the natural expression of who I have always been. I choose relationships that support my self-reclamation. I connect with those who energize the momentum I want to see in the world. This month, I view people who challenge me as invitations to integrate my own selfhood.

Scorpio: Life is speaking to and through me.

A mental place that is dogmatic or inflexible must be reconsidered. Contrast leads to learning. I trade in either/or opinions for both/and dialogues. Truth doesn’t need my participation in order to exist. It simply is. It simply does. It’s up to me what I do with it. Truth is an endless migrating exchange of updated perception. I question the paradigms that require my energy to sustain themselves. If I can poke holes in it, it is likely too flimsy to be totally true. There are languages in the land and sky. I let them change my mental framework. What I was taught is less valuable than what I have yet to learn.

Sagittarius: I gather what is of real value.

What needs to be demolished in the world so we can practice trust together? What needs to be built in the world so we can practice trust together? I am an agent of change. This Eclipse reminds me that time, energy, and attention are precious. That giving them is akin to making investments. What I give time and attention to is where worth accumulates. It’s where my values settle in-action. The struggles I have endured around money and resources necessitate review. I am a key-holder on transforming systems that hurt life.

Capricorn: I am more myself than ever.

The last couple of years has been a slow, difficult process of remolding myself. I honor what I’ve accomplished, as well as my failings. This Eclipse tests the stability of my re-ordered self. Relationships and histories confront me with work yet to be done. I will continue to chip away at what still needs to be shed. I am committed to completing this work. At this point, I have a sense of what the final form may be. Simple. Aligned. Uncomplicated. I unhook myself from expectations and pressure that ensnare me from a dying system.

Aquarius: I completely release.

Healing is a subtle, yet methodological process. It is the process of digestion, simplification, and purification. Of being aware of what is happening, and allowing the sacred to perform whatever tasks are needed. Healing is a matter of right effort - not too much or too little. Clearing is healing. Grieving is healing. Healing can feel like forgiveness or acceptance. It can feel like letting go of every role and finding private spaces to disappear into. This Eclipse marks significant closure that will continue to unfold for the next 6 months. Closure to what? Look back at what began December 2017-July 2018 for clues.

Pisces: I let feedback foster connection.

We need each other. I can not always see myself with lucidity. I sense the subtleties of how I merge with those around me. Interdependence is key. Group connection is a path towards freedom and change. Not one without challenge or confusion, but community helps to clarify my gifts and distinguish my contributions. I speak from my heart even if the words feel jumbled. I welcome feedback from those around me, even when it shakes me up. I practice loving my expressions, even when they miss the mark. I stay compassionate.
