The New Moon in Leo on August 8, 2021 (at 09:49EST) is a mid-summer rising.
A sun-soaked highlight of the year.
A surge of light bringing welcome rebirth.
Leo is a fixed fire sign of passionate identity and radiant spirit.
Summon yourself to yourself. Be who you are, in full color.
Light is everywhere. Look for it. Let it in.
Open yourself to the glow.
Even in a dark time, the light can be found when you look within.
This season is heralded as one of play, celebration, and joy. Bask and bake in the creative qualities of the current times.
Love is a revolution.
What do you love?
How do you love yourself?
How do you let yourself be loved?
What lights your fire?
Feed your joy.
Bring yourself back to life.
This New Moon in Leo coincides with the heliacal rising of the Sirius binary star system.
Sirius the “dog star” has been regarded as a spiritual sun. Dubbed the “star of initiation,” Sirius is thought of as a source of knowledge and power. Its rising is associated with an influx of new consciousness and safe passage on the soul path.
The other astrological feature of this New Moon is that it occurs within a very close square to Uranus in Taurus.
Since late July, the normally-ebullient Sun in Leo has been stressed and weighted by an opposition to Saturn in Aquarius. Is there a promise of joy on the other side of all these restrictions?
The invitation to truly be ourselves and free ourselves requires work, self-sovereignty, and a collective harnessing of inner authority.
2021 is a year of many wake-up calls.
On Friday, August 6, the Sun in Leo encountered Uranus. Every surprise, plot twist, and predicament we encounter this year helps shake us free from another layer of resistance. Awake and adapt.
We are not victims of circumstance. We are conscious creators. We can bend light.
Everything is light.
The New Moon marks a new phase in relationship to the burdens at hand. An opportunity to rebel, refresh, and reinvent.
With Venus in Virgo approaching an opposition with Neptune, a process of cleaning and clearing precedes our ability to rest into real clarity. By August 10 we should receive some refreshing news, or an expanded perspective.
Soak up the sun and play your games now, children. There is much work to be done this fall..
This New Moon plants a seed at 16 degrees Leo.
We typically read the following sabian symbol, which in this case would be 17 degrees, but the 16 degree interpretation called out to me for this lunation:
From Ellias Lonsdale’s “Inside Degrees,” the description for Leo 17 resonated:
glow up moon. laughing moon. moon to live life ALIVE. heart of the matter moon. center yourself moon. moon like a surge of love and light. scorcher moon. initiate moon. moon for creative leadership. backbone moon. throne moon. moon with the courage to radiate. play the game moon. sun child moon. moon to delight in new beginnings. see yourself moon. show yourself moon. moon like a wide smile. applause moon. glimmer moon. moon to bend the light. (everything is light)
