This may be the last Moon Report I ever write. It has been an honor to keep this writing rhythm since 2014. Deep thanks to you, reader, for being a part of an audience that made these contributions possible. Once I am more settled into life as a mother of two littles, I will have a clearer sense of what kinds of inspired writing devotions are available to me.
The Full Moon in Cancer on January 17, 2022 (at 18:48EST) is a burrow. A den. A hideaway nest.
Hunker in. Cozy up with a big furry bear. Under a ceiling of stalactites.
Cavernous echoes amplify the dripping of waters through subterranean chambers. Condensation. Lubrication. Blood in chthonic veins.
You belong.
You belong to THIS moment in THIS life. Claim it. Feel it.
You belong in your body. You belong in your soul. You belong to time, to origins and legends. To the worlds you gestate and erect.
Under the light of this Moon, make room for every mood and feeling.
I’ve heard it said that you belong to whatever feeds, nourishes, or supports you. Whatever, and whomever, meets your needs - that’s home base.
Whatever the shape or feeling tone of the environment, belonging is an inner state. A way of being, of cellular development, and of world-making.
I’ve heard it said that “you belong to what you long for.” Toko-pa Turner writes that when we long for something, we can be the thing we long for. This is how we “be the longing.” When you want a friend’s listening ear, you be that for someone who needs it.
What feeds you?
What supports you?
Where in your life can you feel your needs being met?
Where can you sink in and allow yourself to be held even more?
Take refuge in a rockface. Sleep with a bear. Earth herself as nest-bedding, in any weather.
We lack for nothing.
Home is innate.
Can we remember?
Our work is to cultivate congruence, that the outside matches our insides. Not the other way around. Architecture as Soul design, reflective of the inborn blueprint. Systems and scaffolds as conducive to life, rather than stifling its emergence.
The colonizer non-culture is hungry to control and consume. Determined to dictate and interfere. Quick to sever from Source.
The answer is simple. Return to Source. It’s the inside-eternal.
There will be no “saving planet Earth.”
There is only listening, being with, and tending-to with care.
All that’s needed is restoring home. Nurturing family and world. Listening to plants, land, bones, and children. Leaving behind the lifeways that replicate discord and reinforce a concept that we are separate from nature.
Birth, shedding, death, and rebirth -are ongoing cycles that are always occurring. We can learn to care for the spaces they need and allow them to happen.
It’s not a learning. It’s de-conditioning. It’s waking up from layers of forgetting that have been imposed upon us.
We can let veils thin and life recycle itself as sacred and whole. In total trust.
Undisturbed.
Intact.
The Astrology of this Full Moon in Cancer
At the time of this lunation, the Sun is conjunct Pluto (until January 20, 2022).
Shedding light in the void.
Does the light disappear here? Does it get swallowed or purged?
We are in the midst of deep firsts and lasts. The threshold zone of survival and evolution.
What comes up from the deep? What intensity can you withstand? What are your instincts telling you?
Shed skin.
Inhabit power.
Evolve.
It doesn’t have to be comfortable, and you don’t have to like it.
Let power have its way with you and be reborn.
Uranus stations Direct at 10 degrees Taurus (January 18, 2022).
When an outer planet like this stations, its influence is heightened.
Uranus has been bringing chaos, destabilization, surprising change, and reinvention to normally-fixed Taurean arenas of resources, investments, assets, food, currency, land, and the body.
More than likely, some curveballs have appeared in the last week that require quick, clear thinking and adaptation.
Uranus is a major player in the astrology of 2022 (get the full details on this transit with the 2022 Cosmic Calendar / Year-Ahead Forecast). Wherever Uranus is transiting in your chart, you’re receiving unpredictable upgrades and liberations. It’s an unwieldy, unpredictable vibe, so stay flexible and adapt-as-needed.
The North Node enters Taurus (January 18, 2022-July 2023).
Come back to Body. A new 18-month destiny path begins.
All the learning and changes in perspective we experienced for the previous 18 months while the Nodes in Gemini and Sagittarius can land and take shape in the material world.
What are you divesting from? What are you investing in?
The Nodes will be most activated during the next three Eclipse cycles. They matter for every sign, but have a particularly notable influence for fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. To learn Eclipse dates, and get depth understanding of the meaning of the transiting lunar nodes, invest in 2022 Cosmic Calendar / Year-Ahead Forecast.
Mercury is Retrograde (January 14, 2022-February 3, 2022).
Before we go sky high, we’ve got to get bone deep.
Mercury is retrograde in Aquarius until January 25.
The messenger planet continues its retrograde in Capricorn until February 3.
Mercury Retrograde is generally not a time to sign binding contracts or make major life-altering decisions. It is a time to review, revise, deal with mishaps, miscommunications, and altered routes.
This particular Mercury Retrograde period builds on an overall theme of the times: go backwards before going forwards. Revisit the past. Close the loop. Gather data.
These are the acts that carve the channels through which the currents of future consciousness will flow and connect.
Consider this a nervous-system rewire.

Venus is still Retrograde (December 19, 2021-January 29, 2022).
Relationships and resources are undergoing a deep and thorough process of transformation, after which, we’ll be ready to commit and invest in what truly matters.
Venus transits are especially potent for the Venus-ruled signs of Taurus and Libra.
Don’t be afraid to dig deep and get to the root of the issues.
What’s on the other side is worth it.

Jupiter is in Pisces (on and off until December 2022).
Expanding our trust. Mystifying our visions. Softening us into surrender.
This transit of Jupiter brings a historic conjunction with Neptune in April 2022.
A deluge.
An outpouring.
