Full Moon in Leo

The Full Moon in Leo on February 9, 2020 at 2:33EST) is a bright spot in a dull landscape.

Be a pinhole camera.

Collect the light.

We have grown so old and tired while living amidst the same repetitive scenery. What surrounds us might feel like an antique photo. Peeling paint and frayed edges. Layer upon layer of aging abuses of power. A crumbling paradigm.

The rubble of historical trauma is around us. Some of it falls to dust and dander. Some of it lingers as residue.

A story of false heroics. Domination-engendered victories. Opulent optics mistaken for real gold.

Naturally, there comes a time when these fraudulent obstructions self-destruct.

It makes for good theater. Or chaotic circus. This democracy was autocracy in a flimsy disguise.

Things fall apart. Let them fall. And, with a twinkle in your eye, laugh as they go.

Release your pride. Offer up your attachments.

Re-calibrate your compass towards authentic joy.

The Earth groans, and twists as the Sun ever shines upon her. Always the Sun warms her, somewhere. The Sun, made of the real gold of plasma fire. Eternally illuminating. And Earth, dancing between light and dark in interplay. The Moon reflecting it all.

This Moon wears two masks; Comedy and Tragedy are the dual faces of the Cosmic Joke.

This Full Moon minds us of the intelligence of the natural center. The focal point can medialize.

Remember that the Sun is a Star.

The Sun lies at the center of our Solar System and we circulate around it.

The Sun is like a Heart.

The Heart pumps and circulates blood through our bodies.

Planets orbit around the Sun. The Heart is at the center of a powerful relational field.

The Sun gives us light. The heart gives us life.

Your Heart is a Star inside you.

This planet is populated with stars. Even in the coldest of winters and the darkest of nights, there are billions of star-hearts pulsing and feeding life.

So often, we disown, deny, or dim our light.

We don’t trust ourselves to live our light. So we project it outwards, creating celebrity.

Rather than fawn over who you’d rather be or fang over villainy, return the light to your own heart.

What lights you up? What brightens your star-heart?

What would happen if you allowed the love in your heart to lead?

What might your love illuminate, kindle, or ignite?

Do you trust that there is life inside of love?

While the world burns in a terminal prognosis of collapse, play becomes even more important.

Humor means survival.

Whimsy gives us life.

Love breeds continuity.

Pleasure makes us human.

It is natural to be angry. It is honorable to fight. It is also unsustainable.

The longer we orient our personalities around our outrage and our oppression, the more we erode our spirit and our ability to interconnect. Connections forged around shared enemies are not lasting connections.

Connections forged around courageous shared visions and emergent dreams are vital.

Let’s support ourselves and each other to move through the effects of long-held trauma.

Zealously dismantling harmful constructs is one thing. Reinventing them to create new worlds is entirely another.

Change shape.

The future has already arrived and its changes are unstoppable. All we can do is love them, love ourselves, love each other, and adapt with as much dexterity as we can perform.

Change is Love. Love is Change.

Share the Love.

Dance. Song. Play. Romance. Fun. Laughter.

Every time we honestly express ourselves and witness others, new worlds spring to life.

Let’s live for the children.

Trade empire for the empyrean theater.

Return monarchy to the butterfly realm.

Let the lion’s mane be the crown we oblige.

Technology and nature will inevitably intertwine. Old white folx will fall out of favor. Economies will become circular and animistic. The colors we’ve forgotten to worship will pop up in new kinds of flowers. So...

Just be yourself - all kinds of light.

A worldmaker.

Aries: I am electric.

Connecting with others has shifted me. I am healing who I thought I was. Allowing myself to unravel. Grieving the things that have been lost and dreaming into the future. Surrendering to my hidden strengths. Who I am is somewhere in the middle of who I’ve been and who I am becoming. So, I come into the current. Submerge myself in love. I trust the pulse of creativity running through me. I make space for it, and bring it further to life.

Taurus: I tend my roots and branches.

My roots are my home, family, foundation, and inner-world. My branches are my external life - my career, my public contribution. This Moon has me considering the span of both. Am I living where I need to be to make the most impact? How can I better balance the personal and professional? I consider the bedrocks of my life. What I care about most deeply can inform my work in the world. Who do I wish to connect with to inform my life path?

Gemini: I broadcast my message.

Perception is valuable. Thoughts may be intangible, but even so, they precede reality. I value my mind enough to notice the quality of my thoughts. I understand the power of my words, so I finesse the cadence and tenor of my voice. Eliminating the noise, I share and connect with others around what feels most vital. I bring my voice forward in the spirit of compassionate impact. I can speak in such a way that people will listen, and I hold a lot of respect for myself and my audience.

Cancer: I am prosperous.

What does wealth mean to me? Am I happy with my earnings? This Moon brings my income and assets into full view as it falls in my second house of resources. I center my attention on my quality of life. I choose to invest in things that bring me real joy. It might not be money that makes me feel most abundant. It may be an experience or a course of learning. I name and celebrate the riches, inner and outer, that make my heart genuinely jump for joy.

Leo:  Into me, you see.

It’s important for me to be seen and witnessed. But I recognize that I don’t always show the whole picture. The things I hide are part of my allure, but some of them are also a source of shame for me. Seeing myself as fully as I’m able is important right now. To be intimate with myself is to be intimate with life itself. Intimacy means “into me, you see.”* I clear my closet. Clean up psychic residue. Revitalize my passion and my privacy. Give myself the time and energy and honesty I need to be renewed.

*(“Into me, you see” is a concept recently shared with me by Marianne Mitchell)

Virgo: I release control.

I love to have my hands in many pots and feeling that I am capable. It’s hard for me to let go of the details of participation. I like to keep track of processes so I can know how they work. But sometimes I come up against something unworkable. Unfixable. When this occurs, my only option is to let go. To offer the problem to a higher power. To listen without offering advice. To feel disillusionment alongside compassion. I listen better to hear better. I hear better to heal better. My love moves beyond limits.

Libra: I creatively collaborate.

This Full Moon highlights connections. Allies, colleagues, friends, fellow vigilantes. The spotlight is on our ragtag team and the creative, expressive work we are doing together. Reinvention is the name of our game. We pay attention to the life-force that moves through us when we gather. The muses are awake. I make lots of space for myself this month, as mercury retrograde blurs boundaries in my schedule and points to weakness spots in my health. I embrace illness as necessary cleansing and invitation to deepen self-compassion.

Scorpio:  I advance.

This Moon falls in my 10th house of public life, contribution, and vocation. I am seen for what I’m looking to cultivate. The spotlight is on my branches - what I bring to the wider world. A promotion or advancement is in order - or perhaps I am realizing there are creative dimensions to my work that require a pivot in what I do or how I’m doing it. Am I still passionate about what I’m working towards? If not, what can I do differently to revitalize? “Work is love made visible.” Kahlil Gibran

Sagittarius: I spread my wings.

This Moon wants to take me higher, wider, and further. I love to seek new horizons, and this Moon puts the spotlight on landscapes I’ve yet to explore. Whether it be a worldly location or an inner realm I haven’t fully experienced, I open myself to what wants me to discover it. Meanwhile, I revitalize my roots. Relationships with my past, my home, home and family need to be reimagined. I clean up what feels confusing so I can feel more secure in myself.

Capricorn: I invest in my potential.

This Full Moon illuminates my eighth house of transformation, power, ancestral inheritance, debt, and shared resources. The investments I make this month are big and/or lasting. They have the potential to rewrite inner narratives I inherited from members of my family. I allow myself to be aware that Mercury will be retrograde February 16-March 9th. This is not typically an ideal time to sign contracts. If it’s necessary, I allow extra time and space for prayer, meditation, and rethinking if communications go haywire.

Aquarius: I let my heart lead.

This Full Moon illuminates my most personal connections. A pivot is needed.  I am assessing where my money is coming from and where I want to invest my mental and emotional resources. Perhaps it is time to revitalize a partnership. To honor a love I’ve held dear for the duration. Or perhaps it is time to release myself from the bonds of being in relationship with a business partner, friend, or life companion. Instead of thinking my way through it, I relax my mind and trust that my heart knows the true path forward.

Pisces: I am well.

Over the next month, I am invited to reimagine myself. I let myself take different shapes and try on various costumes. Which version of identity makes me feel most magical? I allow for clearing and cleansing of the old and playing with inviting more possibility. Is it possible to expand my own boundlessness? To become even more loving and compassionate? To no longer conflate compassion and self-victimization? What version of love can I embody to keep myself healthy and well?
